Jessica Collins

Jessica Collins

Contributor

Current: Arlington, TX Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK Married September 22, 2013 to a handsome man named Blaine Collins If you had asked Jessica what she wanted to pursue as a profession when she was ten years old, she would have told you that she wanted to be a nurse practitioner, because she wanted to save lives. While the profession has changed since then, the purpose has not. Her heart is to see people come into a transforming knowledge of the person of Jesus, and to guide them into a daily loving relationship with Holy Spirit. Instead of stethoscopes and syringes, she prefers paper and pen these days, desiring to someday write books that provoke God-conversations. She currently leads worship and serves on staff at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, TX. She loves to worship and considers it a privilege to be a facilitator of His presence on a weekly basis. Her desire is to be known as a worshiper who is constantly desperate for His presence, not a singer of songs. As a glowing newlywed, you can generally find Mrs. Collins baking up a new concoction in the kitchen, singing along to karaoke tracks in her car, running with her puppy Emerson, daydreaming of her future travels, or enjoying some classic British literature with a nice cup of coffee.

Mandy lives in Brunswick, GA with her most handsome preacher husband and their twin girls. From her earliest days, Mandy was most satisfied when interacting with nature and, even better, carrying a favorite crayon in hand. These passions followed her into adulthood and are now expressed through her paintings. She draw inspiration from the transcendence of the natural world, and is influenced by anything from Monet’s passionate colors to Erin Ashley’s bold compositions. Her pieces are loose abstractions that pull away from realism to capture the essence of nature. Mandy’s paintings include colors that reflect the vitality of life, textures that communicate the physicality of nature, and strong lines with open spaces that evoke a sense of freedom. Life at its purest is good; Mandy’s artwork is an invitation to engage in the natural beauty of life.

As a life-long artist, Mandy’s current obsessions include mixed-media and art journaling. She fell in love with a preacher in 2001 and they make their home near the Georgia coast, where life is almost always sunshine and rainbows. Mandy vulnerably shares her life and faith through her art, and has the pleasure of being an art journaling instructor in her local community. In her spare time, she diligently finds ways to inhale and feed her soul, in order to offering something of truth to the world.

Contributor

Current: Portland, OR Hometown: Seattle, WA Married since 1983; twin children Mark has been a professional nomad since his college days, where he met his wife in Pullman, Washington. His brother-in-law keeps wondering when Mark will be “gainfully employed.” Mark began his professional career as an architect, but over the years added design instructor, building contractor, carpenter, pastor, and couples coach to his work portfolio. He loves to walk, read, write and sing. He also loves to bake, watch his children play soccer, date his wife while marveling that she still puts up with his shenanigans after 30 years, play on the beach and color outside the lines. Since his parent’s divorce when he was nine, Mark knew he wanted to help people figure out the sticky questions of life and help them make thoughtful decisions, but it wasn’t until he was 32 that he followed his call into ordained ministry as a pastor. It was through church that he met Joe Brookhouse, who invited Mark join the Frequency FM team. His connection with Joe developed over time, with Joe leading musical worship on the first Sunday of each month at Sanctuary Presbyterian Church where Mark has been pastor for the past 13 years, and where Jessica Campbell and Sara Beth Go (featured on Frequency FM) performed in February 2014.

Current: Dallas, TX Hometown: Dallas, TX Married to the lovely Laura since 2007; amazing little girl, Evangeline, born 2014. When Gabriel was young, he was a child. Fact. His dream was to be a trash man, because he could ride on the side of a truck (and who wouldn’t want to get paid to hold on for dear life?). As he grew in stature and varying levels of maturity, he learned that a life hanging on to the heart of God was much more exhilarating. His love for God naturally grew into a love for His worship and over the years, he became a lead worshiper. Although his heart was to see God receive “one hundred percent” of the glory in each encounter, his zeal would lead him to react to people who didn’t “seem” to have the same goal, in adverse ways. (There are tales of lore regarding accounts of Gabriel storming off a stage mid-song, saying, “I don’t want to waste your time because you’re only wasting His!”. But again, it’s just a tale. Right?) A few moons would pass and Gabriel would find himself as the Worship Director of Christ for the Nations in Dallas, Texas (2008-2014), where he would be charged with leading worship almost every morning for/with people from all over the world. It’s a season that indelibly marked him and shaped his heart for people, a previously missing ingredient. He learned that leading worship is leading people, and if one doesn’t like people, they are incapable of effectively leading worship. He has been leading worship for a couple of decades now, but still wears comic book themed socks. “It’s the only safe rebellion I have to resort.” Being a connoisseur of fine Mexican food, he fell in love with Laura Zavala and married her in the fall of 2007. To this day, she gladly takes credit for the transformation of his personality from a begrudging curmudgeon to delightful …curmudgeon. Recently they’ve been enjoying the fruits of their latest collaborative effort, Evangeline (E-van-je-lynn) Lyric Allred. She has beauty like her mother and brown hair like her father. …and mother..
