Welcome to Episode 1 of the Frequency podcast!  We’re thrilled you’ve chosen to join us – we hope you find it both entertaining and insightful.  For our first show, we’ve invited a special guest: Richie Fike, singer, prolific songwriter, worship leader, and recording artist.  Richie, along with his wife Dana, form Fike, a Colorado-based worship band.

For the past several years, Richie has been writing for Integrity Music.  He has co-written with Jennie Lee Riddle, Jonathon Lee, Travis Ryan, Don Poythress, Chris McClarney, Aaron Schust, Michael Farren, Sarah MacIntosh, Robbie Seay, Mia Fields…the list goes on.  In 2012, Fike released their label debut with Integrity, The Moment We’ve Been Waiting For.

In December 2012, Richie and Joe had a candid conversation that addressed a broad spectrum of subjects pertinent to today’s Christian artists.  We’ve broken the interview into two parts to ensure nothing valuable (or fun) is left on the cutting room floor.

In Part 1, we jump right into a discussion of Moment, the music and the effort required to support a major release.  Artists will want to pay particular attention to Richie’s insight into the landscape of Christian music today and how signing with a label has informed his understanding of the industry and motivation.  On the lighter side, Richie shares some of his family’s holiday traditions, best moments of 2012, and favorite releases from the past year.
